Jose Holebas until 2016

After I've been rushing everywhere for the last few weeks I can finally sit down and relax in the run up to Christmas.

Anyway, yesterday it was announced that Jose Holebas has extended his contract with the club until 2016. This is good news all round. Holebas has been one of the few players to excel this season and has dragged the team forward whenever possible. Sure, he has had some bad games too but his good performances have far outweighed the bad.
With him remaining at the club for the foreseeable future we now have one position at the club tied down and can now concentrate elsewhere.

Djebbour is also expected to be renewing his contract imminently and again this is good news as both him and Abdoun have been the main focus of all our attacks this year. He is also leading the scoring charts at the minute and seems to be a very good bet to end the season as the top Superleague striker.

Unfortunately talks with Torosidis are still ongoing. Torosidis hasn't been outstanding this season so far - he's been ok and putting in some adequate performances but nothing amazing. There are a number of rumours flying around regarding transfers to Italy and I guess we will have to wait until January to see what transpires.

Training - Monday 17th January and more

The weeks training started for our team at 10:30 this morning as we get ready for Wednesdays Cup Game against PAOK. The news from training is :-
  • David Fuster didn't take part in todays training, instead he was taken to the Metropolitan hospital for a scan. The result of this is that he has suffered a minor knock and will be absent from the team for roughly a week. So Fuster definitely misses the cup game against PAOK and potentially the game against Asteras Tripolis as well.
  • Kevin Mirallas and Jose Holebas both trained regularly with the team after recovering from the effects of last weeks viral outbreak.
  • Kristian Nemeth however is still laid low through exhaustion and followed a regime of personal training instead.
  • Dudu Caerense continues to recover from his surgery and has made improvement over the last week or so. He continues to run through personal training in the gym and the grounds.
Olympiakos continue with training tomorrow at 19:00 after which the 18 players for the team will be announced.

Update on Injuries

It looks like my earlier report on Mellberg was wrong and he has since been submitted for a scan in the Metropolitan hospital. The scan showed that his hematoma has not fully healed and he may or may not be ready for this weekends match against Ergotelis. Modesto (who has since recovered from his viral infection) should be able to take his place if Mellberg is not ready to play.

Holebas looks set to be making a start at left back after Bravo's injury seems to have ruled him out for the weekend.

Torosidis (who I forgot to mention in the earlier report) followed a personal training programme today and should be fit enough to take part in the full team training tomorrow.
