The English Olympiakos connection - Ultras.gr - Οπαδική ενημέρωση

In the last couple of days we saw the largest Greek transfer to date when Kostas Mitroglou was sold to Fulham for €15m. The offer was too large to turn down to be honest and we've got €14.85m profit from him. Very nice and I wish him all the best in Fulham.

Obviously we need to replace him and his replacement comes in the shape of Paraguayan international Nelson Valdez. Valdez has played for Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund and Valencia and has a decent enough European pedigree. We're going to be supposedly loaning him for 6 months whilst also retaining an option to buy outright.

We are also looking at replacements for Vladimir Weiss and these will be one of either :-

Oscar Trejo, 25 - an Argentine with Italian Passport who is currently signed to Toulouse and rated at €2m.

Hernan Perez, 24 - a Paraguayan with Italian Passport who is currently signed to Villareal and rated at €1.6m.

Trejo seems to have the edge at the minute and we're looking to complete both signings before midnight tomorrow.

Mitroglou goes to Atromitos

Kostas Mitroglou has been announced as joining Atromitos on loan for the next season, he will return to our club next June.  Mitroglou had been told that he was surplus to requirements this year but a loan move is probably best for all involved. We get to keep a striker who despite his faults does manage to stick the ball in the net and Atromitos get themselves a good player who will score a bucket load of goals for them.

Training recommences for our football team

Following on from the easter break, our football team has met up for the regular training sessions. Our team has been joined by a number of the loanee players notably Kostas Mitroglou, Giorgos Galitsios and Chumbinio. Another superleague loanee, Denis Epstein is expected to rejoin the squad tomorrow.
It is also rumoured that we are lining up one or more friendly games with Panionios or a Cypriot team being the names mentioned.

Mitroglou leaves for Panionios on loan

Konstantinos Mitroglou has completed his move on loan from our team to Panionios for the next 6 months. This was confirmed by the club website last night.

It seems a bit of a shame that Mitroglou is one of the players to leave albeit temporarily. I have no doubts that he has disruptive influences to his game but he is also capable of putting the ball into the net and he has been unfairly sidelined for the first half of the season. I'm not saying that he should have been a regular starter for the team but certainly he should have seen some time on the pitch though.
Anyway, he has gone to Panionios now and we await his return in the summer.
